Machine Operator at ALAF Limited Tanzania

ALAF Limited Tanzania is looking for a Machine Operator to support its manufacturing operations in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining production machinery while ensuring that production activities meet the required quality, safety and operational standards.

The role requires an individual who can follow standard operating procedures, monitor machine performance, carry out routine operator-level checks and promptly report equipment faults. The Machine Operator will also contribute to accurate production records, product quality checks and a safe, clean working environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Set up and operate production machinery according to standard operating procedures and daily production plans.
• Monitor machine performance and product output throughout the shift.
• Adjust machine settings within approved limits to maintain required product quality.
• Carry out routine operator-level checks, cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Report machine faults and operational issues promptly to the maintenance team.
• Inspect production output against required specifications.
• Segregate or report non-conforming materials to the quality team.
• Record production information, including output volumes, downtime and material consumption.
• Follow all plant safety rules and required workplace procedures.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment during work.
• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly working area.

Qualifications required:

• Certificate or Trade Test qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Production or a related discipline.
• Equivalent secondary education with relevant plant training may also be considered.
• Previous experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or industrial plant is an advantage.
• Ability to accurately follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Basic understanding of machine settings and production processes.
• Basic knowledge of product quality checks and measurement using simple gauges and instruments.
• Good awareness of workplace safety requirements and safe machine operation.
• Ability and willingness to work on a rotating shift basis, including nights and weekends.
• Physically fit to perform the requirements of the role.
