Assistant Production Manager at ALAF Limited Tanzania

ALAF Limited Tanzania is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to support the Production Manager in coordinating and supervising daily manufacturing activities in Dar es Salaam. The position is focused on achieving production targets while maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, quality and resource utilisation.

The successful candidate will help manage production schedules, supervise shift teams, monitor manufacturing performance and coordinate with maintenance, quality and warehouse departments. The role also contributes to process improvement, cost reduction and the effective use of production resources.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the Production Manager in planning and scheduling daily production to achieve output, quality and delivery targets.
• Supervise shift teams and machine operators by allocating duties and monitoring performance against production plans.
• Monitor production line efficiency, material usage, waste and downtime.
• Initiate corrective action when production targets or performance standards are not being achieved.
• Coordinate with maintenance, quality and warehouse teams to support equipment availability and uninterrupted material flow.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures on the production floor.
• Ensure production activities comply with company quality standards.
• Prepare shift and production reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications required:

• Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management or a related field.
• Proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing or processing plant environment.
• Working knowledge of production planning and scheduling.
• Experience with shop-floor performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with quality management standards in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards applicable to manufacturing operations.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Strong reporting and communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Willingness to work shifts.
