Legal Manager at Radiance Microfinance Bank Limited – September 2026

Radiance Microfinance Bank Limited is seeking a qualified legal professional to join its team as a Legal Manager in Dar es Salaam. The role will provide expert legal support to the Bank’s credit business while helping business units manage legal and regulatory risks associated with lending, security documentation, and commercial transactions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and preparing lending and security documents, providing practical legal opinions, coordinating security registration, supporting regulatory compliance, and representing the Bank in legal proceedings. The position also requires strong stakeholder management, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to provide commercially focused legal advice in a fast-paced banking environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft, prepare, and review security documents and lending-related contracts to ensure legal soundness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor the registration of security documents with relevant authorities to ensure timely perfection of securities.
  • Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for registered securities.
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports on registered securities and documentation status.
  • Provide timely and well-reasoned legal opinions to business units, branches, and internal credit committees.
  • Handle high-value transactions and regulatory compliance matters while safeguarding the Bank’s interests.
  • Advise on legal risks associated with lending transactions and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Verify and acknowledge receipt of security documents submitted for safe custody.
  • Ensure proper filing, safe custody, and retrieval of security documents in line with internal policies.
  • Liaise with branches, external counsel, and relevant departments to resolve issues affecting security registration and documentation.
  • Respond promptly to queries regarding the legal status of security documentation and perfection.
  • Facilitate the discharge of security documents after loan settlement.
  • Manage transfers under power of sale in accordance with internal mandates and legal requirements.
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports on documentation, compliance, and legal risk issues.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections by providing accurate and timely documentation and records.
  • Prepare court pleadings and represent the Bank before courts of law and tribunals.
  • Monitor developments in the regulatory framework and industry best practices.
  • Advise the Bank on actions required to implement relevant legal and regulatory changes.
  • Undertake additional tasks and special projects assigned by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognised institution.
  • Must be an Advocate.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a dynamic and fast-paced commercial legal environment.
  • Sound understanding of general banking and commercial law.
  • Good knowledge of corporate and commercial lending transactions.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting lending, security creation, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting lending-related legal documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify legal risks within credit processes and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ability to provide timely, practical, and commercially sound legal advice on credit, lending, and security matters.
  • Ability to manage legal and regulatory risks while supporting business decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and effectively apply new technologies in support of organisational objectives.
  • Strong personal organisation and self-management skills.
  • A Master’s degree in Law or Business Studies is an added advantage.
