Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Specialty Programmes) 2026

The Limpopo Department of Health is inviting suitably qualified Professional Nurses to apply for 50 contract training positions under the Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Specialty Programmes). The programme is designed to strengthen specialist nursing skills by placing successful candidates in accredited training institutions and clinical facilities across Limpopo.

This opportunity is intended for registered Professional Nurses who wish to specialize in critical areas of nursing. Selection is subject to departmental service needs, available training opportunities, and successful admission to an accredited university.

• Midwifery – 5 positions
• Perioperative Nursing – 6 positions
• Adult Critical Care Nursing – 7 positions
• Emergency Care Nursing – 7 positions
• Ophthalmic Nursing – 4 positions
• Orthopaedic Nursing – 4 positions
• Nephrology Nursing – 6 positions
• Oncology Nursing – 4 positions
• Child Nursing – 2 positions
• Mental Health Nursing – 3 positions
• Child Critical Care Nursing – 2 positions

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• A 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or
• A 4-year Diploma in Nursing (Regulation R425), or
• A Diploma in General Nursing plus Midwifery.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
• At least 2 years of experience as a registered Professional Nurse or Midwife.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the intended specialty area will be an added advantage.

Applicants who have already secured admission to an accredited university for the relevant Postgraduate Diploma programme will have an added advantage during the selection process.

Important Information

Successful candidates will:

• Be placed at accredited universities subject to available training opportunities.
• Receive clinical exposure at Tertiary, Regional, and Specialized Hospitals.
• Be deployed according to departmental service delivery and training requirements.
• Sign training agreements as determined by the Department.
