Freelancer Business Executive at Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL)

Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), Tanzania’s leading multimedia company, is seeking a results-driven Freelancer Business Executive to join its commercial team in Arusha. This role is responsible for growing advertising revenue by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and selling advertising solutions across print, digital, social media, events, and e-paper platforms.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients to understand their advertising needs, coordinate campaign execution with internal teams, and ensure timely payment collection while maintaining accurate sales and client records.

Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new advertising clients to grow the company’s customer base.
• Promote advertising opportunities across newspapers, websites, social media, events, and e-paper platforms.
• Understand readership, circulation, advertising rates, and competitor market trends.
• Prepare advertising proposals and communicate the value of MCL’s media platforms to clients.
• Obtain client requirements, including advert size, placement dates, pricing, and signed authorization.
• Coordinate with the Graphic Design team to develop effective advertising artwork.
• Book advertisements into the system and ensure all supporting documents and approvals are completed.
• Prepare and submit daily call plans and sales activity reports to the Classified Business Manager.
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and ensure timely collection of client payments.
• Share weekly collection reports showing payments received and outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales pipeline progress, and payment follow-ups.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in sales, advertising, or business development.
• Knowledge of print, digital, events, and electronic media advertising.
• Strong client acquisition and relationship management skills.
• Ability to prepare advertising proposals and execute sales effectively.
• Experience coordinating with creative or graphic design teams.
• Good organizational and documentation skills.
• Strong reporting and record-keeping abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and payment follow-up skills.
