HV Electrician at Barrick

Barrick Africa Middle East Team is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of HV Electrician at North Mara Gold Mine. This full-time opportunity is based in Tarime, Mara, and offers the chance to work within the Engineering Gold Plant Electrical team in a world-class mining environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and inspection of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment supporting mining and processing plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of HV electrical systems.
• Conduct high-voltage switching, isolation, and restoration following approved procedures.
• Install, inspect, and maintain transformers, substations, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Diagnose faults in HV distribution systems and industrial control equipment.
• Install and maintain Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), motor starters, and protection relays.
• Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and emergency power system failures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and switching records.
• Ensure compliance with LOTOTO procedures, mine safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Work closely with operations and maintenance teams during planned shutdowns and commissioning.

Qualifications Required

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NTA Level Four).
• Electrical Trade Certification or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Full Technician's Certificate.
• VETA Grade One or IMTT NTA Level Three in Electrical Engineering.
• Certificate in HV Switching and Operation.
• Valid Tanzania Driving Licence.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance within mining, process plants, or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV switchgear, substations, transformers, VSDs, generators, PLC, and SCADA systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and OEM manuals.
• Excellent troubleshooting, safety, and teamwork skills.
