Specialist; Asset Control and Stores at NMB Bank Plc – September 2026

NMB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Specialist; Asset Control and Stores in Dar es Salaam. This full-time opportunity is suitable for candidates with experience in fixed asset management, inventory management, finance operations, procurement, logistics, or related fields.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Bank’s fixed asset lifecycle, ensuring that assets are properly acquired, registered, tagged, tracked, verified, maintained, transferred, and disposed of in line with Bank policies, accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. The role will also involve maintaining an accurate Fixed Asset Register and supporting effective asset governance across the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage the complete fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition, registration, tagging, tracking, custody, transfer, maintenance, physical verification, and disposal.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Fixed Asset Register (FAR).
  • Ensure asset master data includes classification, location, custodian, cost center, warranty information, and asset status.
  • Coordinate the Bank’s asset identification and tagging programme.
  • Ensure all fixed assets are uniquely identified, accurately recorded, and traceable throughout their lifecycle.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor periodic and risk-based physical asset verification exercises.
  • Confirm asset existence, condition, location, utilization, and ownership during verification exercises.
  • Ensure discrepancies identified during asset verification are resolved promptly.
  • Monitor and control asset movements, including transfers, relocations, assignments, and disposals.
  • Ensure asset movements are properly authorized, accurately recorded in the ERP system, and supported by complete documentation.
  • Monitor asset condition, age, utilization, maintenance costs, and warranty status.
  • Recommend asset repair, replacement, refurbishment, redeployment, or disposal based on lifecycle analysis and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with fixed asset policies, regulatory requirements, internal controls, and audit recommendations.
  • Strengthen asset governance and mitigate asset-related risks.
  • Support continuous improvement of the ERP Fixed Asset Module.
  • Enhance asset management processes and maintain relevant policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Improve asset data quality and promote process automation.
  • Prepare operational asset management reports covering asset ageing, warranty status, maintenance trends, utilization, disposal recommendations, and replacement forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, ICT, Facilities Management, Branches, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and enhance staff awareness of asset management practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset management processes and optimize asset utilization.
  • Support operational efficiency and the Bank’s strategic asset management objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three years of experience in fixed asset management, inventory management, and finance operations.
  • Sound knowledge of fixed asset lifecycle management, inventory management, and asset governance.
  • Knowledge of fixed asset lifecycle management principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in ERP Fixed Asset Management systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Knowledge of asset tagging technologies, including barcode and RFID systems.
  • Experience in physical asset verification, reconciliation, and audit support.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, problem-solving, and data management skills.
  • Good understanding of risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Approved registration by PSPTB.
  • Banking certification(s) are an added advantage.
