Accountant at Harlos Containers – September 2026

Harlos Containers is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join its team in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial information, monitoring business costs, calculating profit margins, and supporting the company’s compliance with applicable tax requirements.

The position requires a professional who can handle financial records accurately, manage accounting processes, and work responsibly with company funds and confidential financial information. Experience in trading, logistics, import and export, or shipping environments will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities include:

• Track costs for containers, sales, and projects.
• Calculate and monitor profit margins.
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Manage inventory accounting and general ledger activities.
• Handle VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT, WCF, NSSF, service levy, and corporate tax matters.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, clearing agents, Marketing, Administration, banks, and relevant authorities.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Work under pressure and meet month-end reporting deadlines.
• Safeguard company funds and confidential financial information.

Qualifications required:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an accounting position.
• CPA(T), CPA student status, or qualified CPA is an added advantage.
• Practical knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliation, inventory, and general ledger.
• Knowledge of VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT, WCF, NSSF, service levy, and corporate tax.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and ERP systems.
• Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in a trading, logistics, import/export, or shipping company is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
• High level of integrity and responsibility when handling financial information and company funds.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.
