M-Pesa IMT Manager at Vodacom Tanzania Plc

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is seeking an M-Pesa IMT Manager to lead the growth, profitability, operational performance, and regulatory compliance of its cross-border financial services portfolio. The role will focus on expanding international remittance corridors, developing new cross-border payment opportunities, strengthening strategic partnerships, and ensuring reliable services for M-Pesa customers.

The successful candidate will work across commercial, technical, operational, and regulatory functions to deliver cross-border payment solutions. The position requires strong knowledge of mobile money or banking operations, international payments, risk management, KYC, AML/CFT requirements, and the ability to maintain high performance in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and execute the cross-border payments growth strategy in line with M-Pesa’s financial services objectives.
• Identify new revenue opportunities across international remittances, wallet transfers, merchant payments, and emerging payment corridors.
• Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and regulatory developments.
• Ensure smooth end-to-end operation of cross-border payment services.
• Monitor transaction success rates and service availability.
• Ensure strict compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and applicable financial regulations.
• Monitor transactions for suspicious activities and support risk mitigation measures.
• Onboard and manage relationships with International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs), payment hubs, and banking partners.
• Verify and reconcile daily transactions.
• Manage partner accounts and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
• Enforce KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) policies.
• Assess and mitigate operational, financial, fraud, and regulatory risks.
• Ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania regulations and international payment requirements.
• Work with commercial and technical teams to support the delivery of business and system requirements.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance and Banking, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge and experience in cross-border payment operations.
• Good understanding of operational risk within the mobile money or banking sector.
• Strong knowledge of KYC and AML/CFT requirements within the remittance business.
• High level of responsibility and integrity.
• Open and fact-based approach to business decisions.
• Ability to understand commercial objectives and translate them into requirements for technical teams.
• Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work effectively at an operational level.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work with commercial and technical teams to define system and business requirements.
• Strong focus on delivering tangible results from assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to continuously develop skills and keep up with new technologies while maintaining focus on operational performance.
• High resilience and ability to maintain performance under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
