Cable Bolter Trainer at Barrick

Barrick is inviting applications from qualified and experienced underground mining professionals for the position of Cable Bolter Trainer. This full-time opportunity is based in Tarime, Mara, and is ideal for candidates with strong expertise in cable bolter operations, ground support, and underground mining safety.

The successful candidate will be responsible for training local personnel to high operational standards while supporting safe and efficient underground ground support activities in accordance with mine specifications and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Train local employees in advanced Cable Bolter operations.
• Promote and uphold Barrick's health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Drill ground support holes and install cable bolts and grout according to specifications.
• Follow geotechnical plans, layouts, and ground support standards.
• Avoid over-drilling and under-drilling while maintaining quality standards.
• Perform equipment inspections before and during operation.
• Report equipment defects and operational abnormalities promptly.
• Complete end-of-shift operational reports accurately.
• Achieve daily bolting targets by following standard operating procedures.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment and underground work areas.

Qualifications Required

• Tertiary or ordinary secondary education.
• Valid driving licence.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience operating a Cable Bolter in an underground mining environment.
• Strong underground drilling knowledge and ground support skills.
• Experience operating Sandvik or Atlas Copco Cable Bolters is an added advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret cable bolt layouts.
• Sound knowledge of underground mining practices and operations.
• Understanding of Safety, Health, and Environmental legislation applicable to underground mining.
