Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Conduct daily inspections of underground headings, stopes, pits, dumps, and sumps.
• Perform geotechnical core logging and maintain geotechnical databases.
• Carry out underground and open-pit geotechnical mapping.
• Supervise scaling activities and protect berm crests.
• Conduct pre-stope inspections and maintain stope documentation.
• Install, monitor, and maintain ground-movement monitoring systems.
• Support ground-support and paste-fill design through QA/QC activities.
• Perform pre- and post-blast geotechnical assessments.
• Supervise geotechnical drilling operations.
• Monitor seismic activity and slope-stability radar data.
• Perform laser scanning and maintain rock-noise records.
• Assist with numerical modelling and slope-stability analysis.
• Prepare inspection reports, tracking sheets, and periodic technical reports.
• Monitor ground-support consumables and ensure compliance with mining safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• 1–2 years of experience in underground or open-pit mining operations.
• A valid Tanzanian driving licence with the ability to drive a manual-transmission vehicle.
• Knowledge of mine design and geotechnical investigation methods.
• Experience in geological or geotechnical logging, mapping, and monitoring.
• Ability to prepare concise technical reports and maintain geotechnical databases.
• Familiarity with geotechnical or mine-design software will be an added advantage.
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to work underground and outdoors.
• Awareness of the Mines Health and Safety Act.
